For those who don’t know what benchmarking means, I must mention that it’s the best way to explore the performance of any device. What’s used is a standard test that can provide reliable results regarding the device’s performance. When it comes to smartphones the benchmarking process is a bit different than the one used on PCs, for instance. That’s why, to determine the performance of an Android smartphone, you should use one of the special apps available on the market that are pretty accurate and reliable. Here are only a few examples.

Android Phone Benchmarking (Source: fs02.androidpit.info)

Quadrant is my first suggestion and probably the most used benchmark for Android smartphones. It’s easy to install and easy to use. After you use this benchmark, you won’t need to spend a lot of time waiting to find out the results. You should also know that this benchmark offers various tests that are focused on different components of the phone’s hardware including the processor, the memory and the GPU. You will also be able to use a result browser which allows you to appreciate the phone’s internet performance. If you are interested in finding out more about your smartphone’s performance you can opt for the advanced version of this app which costs $2.99 and offers a detailed list of sub-scores.

Another useful benchmark app that you can use is NenaMark which uses programmable shaders for graphical effects like parametric surfaces and reflections and different light models to use the GPU at maximum capacity. This benchmark manages to measure performance using realistic scenes and displays the results in frames per second. NenaMark is now available in two versions: 1 and 2. The second version is more sophisticated and is designed to test the new high end devices available on the market. You should definitely use it if you want to know more about GPU performance.

You should also consider Browsmark which as the name implies is designed to benchmark browsers. Actually, this benchmark isn’t an app. It’s a webpage that you can visit anytime directly from your smartphone. Browsermark runs in just a few minutes and offers a detailed glimpse regarding your phone’s performance during web browsing. This benchmark can also run on PCs while Peacekeeper is designed for laptops.

Android Phone Benchmarking (Source: ubergizmo.com)

If you are interested in finding a benchmark for your smartphone’s battery you should know that currently no such app is available. You can benchmark battery life by letting your phone to play an extremely long video. YouTube is actually the best place to find videos that can play for more than 10 hours. Then, because you can set up the smartphone to not sleep/ turn off the screen while playing video, you can benchmark the battery.

The HTC Desire, one of the best 2010 smartphones on the market, has impressed high end device fans from all around the world, including Australia. If you are the lucky owner of a HTC Desire smartphone, you live in Australia and you want to purchase a few useful accessories for your smartphone you should take a closer look at the products I’ve managed to select from the wide variety of accessories available.

HTC Desire Accessories Australia (Source: mrgadget.com.au)

One of the most important accessories that you need to purchase is a screen protector which manages to preserves the touchscreen’s integrity for a long period of time. I personally recommend you to purchase the Mr. Gadget screen protector available on the Australian market for $23.95. This screen protector is cut to fit on the HTC Desire’s touchscreen. It offers high clarity and transparency and protection against scratches and dust. This screen protector uses a silicone adhesive to adhere to the phone’s screen and doesn’t leave any residue behind when removed.

Another must have accessory for your HTC Desire is the case which offers full protection against all possible damages. From the wide variety of covers available on the market, I suggest the OtterBox Commuter Series case available for $34.10. This cover comes with a stylish and elegant design and offers three-layer protection. It includes a durable polycarbonate outer shell, an internal silicone skin and a self-adhering screen protector. Your smartphone will be well protected against scratches, shocks and impacts. All the ports and controls are easy to access even with the case on because of the well done cutouts.

The Belkin micro USB car charger should also be on your list. It costs $16.95 and comes with a small and compact design allowing you to easily store it inside your vehicle. This car charger helps you keep your smartphone fully charged on the go by simply plugging it into the car’s cigarette lighter. The indicator light available on this car charger displays the charging level while the smart chip integrated into the charger protects your HTC Desire against overcharging and overheating.

HTC Desire Accessories Australia (Source: uberphones.com)

You should also consider the Plantronics Marque M155 Bluetooth headset available for $84.80. This headset catches your attention with a slim and stylish design and provides an excellent handsfree experience. It allows you to manage your incoming calls without holding the phone into your hand. You only need to say “Answer”. While using this Bluetooth headset you can also listen to music and GPS directions provided by your HTC Desire.

These are only a few of the HTC Desire accessories that you should buy. Don’t forget about the Clicon windscreen mount, the International AC Travel charger and the HTC HS U350 headset.

The BlackBerry Torch is a slider smartphone equipped with a powerful processor and a 3.2-inch touchscreen. On this device you will also find useful features and apps. For those interested in installing new apps on this device, I must mention the need to visit the BlackBerry App World where you can find everything you need. Here are only a few apps that I consider useful for any BlackBerry Torch owner interested in installing some new apps.

Real Estate is a BlackBerry app developed by Smarter Agent to help users to keep an eye on the real estate market’s evolution directly from their smartphone. You will have the possibility to find out when it’s the best time to buy, sell or rent a property without having to visit a real estate agent. This app comes with a user friendly interface and uses GPS to find your current location and the best property available in the location. You can also enter various tags to filter the properties available on the market for sale including zip code, address and city. Try this app especially if you want to buy a house.

BlackBerry Torch Applications (Source: pocketberry.com)

Another important app that you should have on your BlackBerry Torch is Evernote which is a great alternative for replacing the physical notebooks and journals that you need to carry all around. This app allows you to input not only text, but also image and audio files from your PC for later viewing and editing. It’s able to organize your notes, ensure fast access and sync the files, notes and thoughts stored on your BlackBerry, the web and your PC. You will be able to access all your data anytime and from anywhere you are.

BerryWeather/BeWeather should also be on your smartphone because it helps you be all the time informed about weather conditions. It catches your attention with a gorgeous interface and various features. This app can offer weather forecasts for more than 72,000 locations from all around the world. You will even receive 7-day or 24-hour forecasts regarding the weather in your town, so you will always know what to wear the next day. This app is able to track your current location and display animated radar maps. You will also have the possibility to share weather information with your friends via Twitter and Facebook.

BlackBerry Torch Applications (Source: fs02.androidpit.info)

I can’t forget about Learn which is another incredible BlackBerry app that targets the users interested in learning foreign languages. This app comes with more than 240 self-contained audio lessons for different learning levels. The lessons are easy to understand and offer useful phrases and dialogues. You have the possibility to pause the lesson at any moment and resume it later.

Samsung Galaxy S owners have the chance to increase their phone’s capabilities by purchasing various accessories available on the market. I’ve selected only the most needed Galaxy S accessories that you should consider purchasing for your smartphone.

Samsung Galaxy S 4g Accessories (Source: daydealx-com.s3.amazonaws.com)

As any other high end device, the Galaxy S comes with an attractive design and a gorgeous display that need to be protected against daily wear and tear. The right thing to do is to buy a protective case which will keep it safe and secured. I personally recommend you to check out the Qmadix horizontal pouch available for $18.99. Made of high quality materials, it manages to protect your smartphone against scratches, bumps and other possible damages. On the inside, the case is covered in soft suede material which keeps scratches away from the phone’s touchscreen. With the help of a magnetic flap closure you will secure the phone inside while with the belt clip located on the back you can attach the Galaxy S to your belt.

Another useful accessory that you should buy for your smartphone is the Samsung HS3000 Bluetooth headset which costs around $49.99. This headset is perfect for those who have to perform multiple tasks in the same time. It provides an excellent audio sound because of the Sound Alive technology. You will be able to manage your incoming calls and enjoy listening to your favorite music in the same time. This stylish headset features an easy to access answer/call button along with its MP3 player style music controls.

You will also need for your smartphone an extended power solution and the best option is to purchase the Samsung Galaxy S “Just Mobile Gum Plus” external battery which is able to provide the needed extra power on the go. This portable backup battery is made of solid aluminum and can store up to 4400mAh of power. You will able to recharge your Galaxy S and any other USB-powered mobile devices. This stylish battery impresses with rounded corners and five LED indicators which show you how much juice is still available. You will pay for this useful accessory around $69.99.

Samsung Galaxy S 4g Accessories (Source: wpuploads.appadvice.com)

Those who drive a lot should consider the purchase of a car mount. You should definitely buy the Griffin WindowSeat3 car mount designed to properly secure your smartphone while driving. This car mount can be easily installed on the vehicle’s windshield or dashboard. In addition, it features an adjustable 3-point mounting bracket which secures the smartphone with or without a case on. You can easily access your Galaxy S without any problems and enjoy an excellent handsfree experience. With a proper car charger you can also charge your smartphone even if it’s placed inside the holder.

To easily use the touchscreen of an Android phone you should definitely find and purchase one of the pens available on the market. I’ve managed to find a few interesting and useful Android phone pens that you should definitely check out.

Android Phone Pens (Source: ecx.images-amazon.com)

The iKross pen slides smoothly on the smartphone’s display without scratching it. You will be able to choose from a wide variety of colors.

You should also consider the new Trent Limir stylus which works not only on Android phones, but also on any mobile device equipped with a touchscreen. This stylus is the perfect solution for taking notes, drawing or turning the page on your smartphone. It’s equipped with an advanced micro-knit fiber tip (at one end) which doesn’t damage the phone’s display. At the other end, it has a twist open ballpoint pen which allows you to take notes in the traditional way. If you are interested in purchasing this stylus you will pay $34.95.

I can’t forget about the iClooly multi-touch pen available for $14.65. Made of a fiber material, this pen is similar to a soft brush. It comes with an attractive and modern design and offers an incredible touchscreen experience. This pen works on any mobile device with a touchscreen and is a great solution for those who create illustrations and draw on their smartphones. You even have the possibility to adjust its length.

Android Phone Pens (Source: ecx.images-amazon.com)

The GTMax universal touchscreen mini stylus pen should also be on your list. The pack includes three pens of different colors designed to work on any touchscreen. Each pen is made of lightweight aluminum and features a soft tip which is ultra responsive, so you don’t need to worry about damaging the touchscreen while using the pen. These stylus pens come with a wrist strap and a lanyard which allow you to carry them comfortably. You will pay for this pack around $10.

If you want to own a good-looking and powerful Android phone you should definitely take a closer look at the HTC Desire lineup. You will definitely be impressed by the designs and advanced features made available. Here are a few details about the HTC Desire lineup that will help you decide if this lineup is worth the investment or not.

Buy HTC Desire (Source: gadget-guides.com)

Released in 2010, the HTC Desire comes with an attractive design and a gorgeous 3.7-inch AMOLED touchscreen with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels. It’s equipped with a 1GHz processor with 576MB of RAM and runs on Android 2.1 (upgradable to superior versions) with the HTC Sense UI. You will find on this smartphone plenty of advanced features including voice memo, text and multimedia messaging and a few preinstalled apps. The 5MP camera equipped with LED flash and video recording capabilities takes nice pictures that you can save on microSD cards. This device also supports Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, A-GPS, EDGE and 3G as connectivity options.

The HTC Desire HD is the lineup’s second model, released on the market at the end of 2010. Pretty similar to its predecessor in terms of design, this smartphone offers a larger display of 4.3 inches and an 8MP camera equipped with dual-LED flash and 720p video recording capabilities. Under the hood, it hosts the same 1GHz processor, but 768MB of RAM and 1.5GB of storage. It runs on Android 2.2 (upgradable to version 2.3) with the HTC Sense UI and offers the same advanced features as its predecessor.

Another 2010 release was the HTC Desire Z which, just like the Desire HD, offers a stylish design, but it’s much heavier than both previous models, weighing 180 grams. That’s because of the full slide-out QWERTY keyboard which is pretty responsive and allows you to type messages quickly. This model comes with the same 3.7-inch S-LCD touchscreen and 5MP camera of the original model, but it’s powered by an 800MHz processor with 512MB of RAM and 1.5GB of storage and runs on Android 2.2. The rest of the features available are similar to those available on the other models.

Buy HTC Desire (Source: geekword.net)

The HTC Desire S is another model of the Desire lineup. It’s smaller and lighter than the original model and offers the same 3.7-inch touchscreen with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels. Powered by a 1GHz processor with 768MB of RAM, the Desire S offers the needed power for running Android 2.3 and the HTC Sense UI. You will also find on this smartphone two cameras: a VGA front-facing camera and a 5MP rear camera able to record 720p videos. The list of advanced features includes document viewer, SNS integration and preinstalled Google apps.

The Android Market is full of useful and easy to install apps compatible with various Android smartphones. You can easily transform your Android phone into a virtual desktop if you install one of the apps listed below.

Android Phone As Virtual Desktop (Source: cdn3.staztic.com)

DaaS Mobile Client is my first recommendation. It’s a free app designed to transform your Android smartphone into a fully functional Windows Desktop. You will be able to access Windows desktops from anywhere and anytime. This app uses basic gestures to provide full control over your desktop without forcing you to use extra buttons or bars. It’s able to provide support for Microsoft RDP (Remote Display Protocol) and takes only a few seconds to install.

Another useful app that turns your Android device into a virtual desktop is Propalms Universal Client. This is another free app that lets you access apps and Windows desktops even if you are on the go or at home. It manages to connect to Propalms TSE, VPN and VDI, providing the chance to use various business apps like Microsoft Office via virtual desktops. This app’s Session Keep Alive setting allows you to prevent Wi-Fi disconnections. You should also know that this app secures the entire process when you access RDP and TSE desktops and apps.

You should also check out Quest vWorkspace Connector for Android which offers desktop visualization to users interested in securely accessing virtual desktops, apps and any other kind of data from their Android smartphone. This app transforms your smartphone into a portable workspace and ensures fast screen updates. You can easily switch between business desktops and apps because of EOP Graphics Acceleration. With the help of the vWorkspace Secure Gateway you will be able to securely access all your data.

PocketVM should also be on your list of Android apps able to turn your smartphone into a virtual desktop. It’s free for download and allows you not only to take all your files with you, but also the virtual machine desktops. Your phone becomes a storage and syncing agent between computers. This app also allows you to access your PocketVM documents without using any Internet connection. You will have instant access to your documents as soon as you connect your devices.

Android Phone As Virtual Desktop (Source: img.cyberdevilz.net)

I can’t forget about Power Office Suite + Dropbox which is a great business and creativity office suite created for Android devices. It costs around $14.99 and provides remote control to your virtual Cloud desktop. You will be able to run Firefox, Adobe Reader, OpenOffice, InkScape graphics and Gimp photo. This app requires a network connection every time you use it. You can even cut/copy and paste between programs like on a normal PC and open and save files from Dropbox.

The Sony Ericsson Aino is definitely an interesting device released by Sony Ericsson somewhere in 2009. It comes with a beautiful display, great multimedia features and plenty of connectivity options. This phone catches your attention with its rectangular design with rounded edges and a matte chassis. It measures 4.09 x 1.97 x 0.61 inches and weighs only 4.73 ounces. On the front surface of the phone you will notice the gorgeous 3-inch touchscreen able to display 16 million colors and support a resolution of 432 x 240 pixels. Closed, the phone’s display acts like a touchscreen for the media browser which lets you access the FM radio, the camera, the music and video players and the photo gallery available on the Aino.

Sony Ericsson Aino U10 Review (Source: newlaunches.com)

By sliding open the phone, you can easily access the other phone functions available, but the screen won’t have touch-sensitive capabilities anymore. You will also reveal, by opening the phone, the navigation array which is responsive and includes the Send and End/Power keys, two soft buttons, a toggle, the Clear button and a shortcut key. Under this navigation array, you will find the keypad which comes with small keys, but quite usable because of the domes surface that allows you to type messages easily. To finish the exterior description of the Aino, I must also mention that on the right side of the phone you will see the camera key and the volume rocker while on the left side you will notice the charger/headset jack. The microSD card slot can be found behind the battery cover.

You will have the chance to enter around 1000 contacts into the phone’s address book and add for each of your entries seven phone numbers, an email address, birthday and other personal details. You can also group your contacts and add a caller picture ID and a ringtone. On the Aino, you will also discover other useful features including calendar, to-do list, a timer, notepad and a few preinstalled apps such as AccuWeather, Music Quiz, Wisepilot and YouTube. You will be able to access POP3 and IMAP4 email accounts and use Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, instant messenger and USB mass storage. This Sony Ericsson also offers support for GPS and various multimedia features. The music player provides plenty of the Walkman phone’s characteristics and is able to support various file formats. You can also use FM radio and TrackID music recognition.

Sony Ericsson Aino U10 Review (Source: st2.gsmarena.com)

On the back of the phone you will notice an 8.1MP camera equipped with LED flash, geo-tagging and other advanced camera settings. Pictures and videos look both good. Call quality is excellent with loud and clear conversations and without background noise. The battery available offers around 4.3 hours of talk time.

The BlackBerry Bold 9700 is a great smartphone that comes with a 624MHz processor, BlackBerry OS 5 and plenty of useful features. On this device you will also be able to use various apps. So, those who are interested in purchasing a great weather app should consider one of the apps that I’ve selected.

BlackBerry 9700 And Weather (Source: cdn.crackberry.com)

My first recommendation is BeWeather which can be easily downloaded from the BlackBerry App World. It’s probably the most popular BlackBerry weather app and comes with a gorgeous user interface and intuitive controls. You will be able to get weather information for up to three locations in the same time, directly on your device. This app will display useful information regarding temperature, pressure, wind, humidity and dew point. You will also gain access to weather data about the following five days, including accurate details about temperature and precipitations. If you decide to get the premium version of this app you will also get information about sunrise/sunset times and moon phase, weather advisory notification and built in radar maps. You can also use the app to track your location using GPS and then find out weather information about it.

Another impressive weather app available for the BlackBerry Bold 9700 is Weather Plus which can provide accurate weather forecast for multiple cities in the same time. It catches your attention with a user-friendly interface and various features. You will be able to search for cities by ZIP (US only) and find out more about weather conditions. This app automatically updates weather info, so you will always know what to wear. You can download this app for free by visiting the BlackBerry App World.

You should also check out Handy Weather which offers one-click access to weather forecast and news. This app impresses with a colorful and animated interface and allows you to find out weather details about around 40,000 locations worldwide. It’s one of the most comprehensive weather apps available on the market being able to offer weather data about wind, UV index, temperature, pressure and not only. This app checks for updates automatically and can display a 7-day forecast for various locations.

BlackBerry 9700 And Weather (Source: blackberrygood.com)

Don’t forget about AccuWeather which is another amazing app that allows you to access accurate weather information directly on your BlackBerry. This app displays your current location by using GPS technology and then displays detailed and reliable weather data allowing you to be prepared for any weather changes. It’s also trained to offer local forecasts for global places and send alerts for extreme weather such as rain, tornadoes and high winds (only for US users). You will also have the possibility to use various weather views and choose between metric and English units.

Those who own an Android smartphone should know that they can purchase plenty of accessories for their device. If you are looking for an Android phone charger you should simply get ready to make a choice by wisely analyzing the wide variety of options available. Here a few of my choices.

Android Phone Charger (Source: cdn-store.webosnation.com)

If you need to purchase a wall charger for your Android smartphone, you should check out the Seidio micro-USB output folding travel charger available for $14.95. It comes with an attractive and foldable design allowing you to quickly charge your phone. You can easily store it in any small luggage pocket, backpack or purse. This charger comes with built-in safety circuits which prevent overcharging.

Another useful charger that you should purchase for your Android phone is the Samsung micro-USB car charger which costs around $19.99. This car charger features a coiled cable that has a length of 4ft. It’s compatible with any 12-14 volt DC car charger or cigarette lighter and allows you to keep your smartphone fully charged on the go.

Android Phone Charger (Source: itechnews.net)

You should also take a closer look at the Griffin PowerJolt dual USB charger which comes with a light and practical design. It allows you to charge your smartphone and another mobile device in the same time by using the USB cable included. You need to plug the USB cable of your device into the charger which is already plugged into the car’s 12V outlet. Because of the SmartFuse technology your smartphone will be protected against overcharging. This car charger also features lighted charge indicators which display the charging status of your device. You will pay for this charger around $19.99.

If you prefer a charging dock then you should definitely purchase the Motorola HD dock which is compatible with any Atrix, Droid 4, Photon 4G and Droid Bionic. It’s available for around $44.95 and stands out with a gorgeous and stylish design. The sliding connectors and the back plate can be easily adjusted to fit different mobile devices. This dock comes with HDMI port, 3.5mm audio output and microUSB charging port. You will have the possibility to watch movies, browse the web and type messages in a pretty comfortable position.

I also need to mention the Smartphone Experts mini-USB car charger available for around $7.95. This car charger allows you to keep your smartphone fully charged even if you can’t get to a power outlet. You can store it inside the car’s glove compartment or door pocket because of its small and compact design. It features LED indicator that displays the smartphone’s charging status and 5-foot extended cord.

These are only a few of the chargers that you can buy for your Android smartphone.
