There are loads of smartphones available on the market that impress with their features and apps. Recently, two of these amazing smartphones caught my attention. I’m talking about the Dell Streak and the Samsung Galaxy S. Both smartphones were released in 2010 and made quite a bit of noise when they were released. But, let’s find more about these two high-end devices.

Starting with the exterior design, both smartphones come with attractive designs and high quality materials. The Dell Streak measures 152.9 x 79.1 x 10mm and weighs around 220 grams while the Galaxy S comes with 122.4 x 64.2 x 9.9mm and weighs 119 grams. If you prefer a smaller and lighter smartphone then you will most likely go for the Galaxy S.
Galaxy S features a 4-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels and Gorilla Glass enhancement technology. Pictures and text look sharp and rich in details. On the other hand, the Dell Streak comes with a huge 5-inch TFT touchscreen with a 480 x 800 pixel resolution. Images look great on this huge display, but I think you will go for the Galaxy’s display because it uses high end tech.
When it comes to the hardware department, you need to know that both smartphones come with a 1GHz processor with 512MB of RAM. The only difference consists in the storage area offered by these high-end devices. The Galaxy S offers 8 and 16GB of storage while the Dell comes with only 16GB. Moving on to the operating system available on these high-end devices, I should mention that both run on Android. The Streak runs on Android 1.6 Donut (but it’s upgradable to version 2.2) while Galaxy S comes with Android 2.1 (upgradable to version 2.3). You will be able to enjoy using various Android apps directly from the Android Market.
Cameras are always discussed when dealing with such devices. The Samsung Galaxy S features a 5MP camera with autofocus, touch focus and 720p video recording capabilities and a VGA front-facing camera for video calls. Photos look amazing with vibrant colors and accurate details and you can easily store them on the memory available or on microSD cards of up to 32GB. On the other hand, the Streak features a 5MP camera with dual-LED flash, various camera settings and 720p video recording capabilities and a VGA front-facing camera for video calling.

The Samsung Galaxy S wins hands down against the Dell Streak. The software is so bad, even under 2.2, that makes the Streak hardly usable under any circumstances.
No wonder Dell pulled the plug on it and decided to stop selling it.
The Samsung is the best package of the two no matter what.
I was thinking about buying a Dell Streak.. but now that i see this comparison.. i’m not so sure anymore. i mean, yeah, i know that samsung keeps bragging with it.. but i thought its more talk than facts. dunno, i have quite a dilemma, at the moment..
